The 2am scratching finally stopped.

For a year that jingle was our alarm clock: 2am, scratch, scratch, scratch. We rotated three foods and two shampoos before this. Around week three on Tailsome the nights went quiet. I kept waking up anyway, waiting for it. It never came.

You'd never know he licked his paws raw.

He licked his front paws so much we had him in baby socks around the house. Prescription worked for a stretch, wore off, repeat. Six weeks on the Tailsome drops and the socks are in a drawer. His paws look like a dog's paws again.

Her ear infections haven't come back.

After every swim came the ear routine: shaking, scratching, that warm yeasty smell you could catch from the sofa. Ear drops were basically on subscription. Ten weeks in with Tailsome, she's back in the river most walks and her ears stay clean.

Fix the cause, not the symptom

Runs safely alongside prescriptions. Never stop one without your vet.

Four ingredients, four ways to end the itch.

Repairs raw skin

Collagen I & III · 800 mg

Worn thin. Skin runs out of its main building material. This restocks it, so raw patches and hot spots close.

Calms the itch

Undenatured type II collagen · 40 mg

Overreacting. The immune system attacks everything that gets in. This settles it down, without switching it off.

Comfort right away

MSM · 400 mg

Still itchy. Repair takes weeks and the scratching is now. This soothes while the skin heals.

Locks in moisture

Hyaluronic acid · 50 mg

Drying out. Dry skin cracks, and cracks let allergens in. This holds water in, so they stay shut.

Gentle on sensitive stomachsNo chicken, no filler

Your dog's itch, explained.

The skin barrier process

1 The skin is sealed by a collagen wall ▾

A thin protective layer seals the skin and keeps pollen, dust and grass on the outside. While the wall is whole, your dog is comfortable.

2 Every year, the body makes less of it ▾

Collagen production falls as dogs age, and scratching, antibiotics and poor diet speed the loss up. The wall thins, and microscopic cracks open in it.

3 Cracks open, allergens get in, itch begins ▾

The immune system attacks whatever gets in. The scratching, the raw paws, the flare-ups, the ear trouble: all of it is that overreaction at work. Your dog isn't the problem; the cracks are.

4 Medication mutes the alarm, not the cracks ▾

Apoquel and Cytopoint quiet the immune response, but the cracks stay open, so allergens keep getting in, and the itch keeps coming back.

5 Rebuild the wall, the itch loses its cause ▾

Feed the barrier the collagen it's made of and it repairs itself. Less scratching, softer coat, fewer flare-ups, because nothing is getting through any more.

Stop the itch at its source

good, just pricey

Works well, just wish it cost a bit less. Still buying it though.

Pros and cons from a fussy-dog household

Pros: mixes into breakfast with no smell she seems to mind, dropper makes dosing simple, no more crushed up tablets hidden in cheese that she'd still find and leave on the mat.
Cons: have to give the bottle a little shake before use or it separates a bit, and my dog's a wiggler so the dropper's not always steady in my hand.
Overall she's eating her breakfast properly again which after two failed chew supplements feels like a small win.

Cheaper than I expected for two dogs

Stretches further than I expected for two dogs.
- 60lb lab and a 15lb dachshund, each on their own amount based on weight
- Same bottle covers both
- Still not empty after five weeks of daily mornings mixed into breakfast
- Less than what I used to spend on chews for the two of them
- Way easier to keep on top of

sorted our old boy right out

Our Labrador Barney is 11 now and had gotten proper slow getting up off the kitchen floor. Sceptical going in, we've tried a couple of things before that did nothing. Quick rundown:
- Started him on the drops back in early June, one dropper mixed into breakfast, no fuss
- Within three weeks he was up the stairs again without that hesitation at the bottom step
- Not a miracle, he's still an 11 year old dog, but he's moving like he did a couple of years ago
- Dropper bottle took some practice to measure exactly but it's second nature by now
Would order again.

easy switch

Dog loves the taste, dropper's simple, coat and energy both better. Easy five stars.

didn't expect this to work

I bought this half expecting it to sit in the cupboard like the last three things I tried. My vet mentioned drops when I asked about my old spaniel's stiffness getting up in the mornings, so I thought why not. Three weeks of a dropper in his breakfast and he's trotting down to the postbox again instead of plodding. Bit dodgy trusting another supplement after being let down before, but this one's actually done something.

well that actually did something

Our springer's nearly 9 and had gone from bounding around to a bit reluctant on stairs. We'd tried a glucosamine powder before that he wouldn't even touch, so I wasn't holding my breath here either. He's about 20kg so it's 2mL of this in his breakfast every morning, no fuss getting it into him since it's just drops and not a tablet he can pick around. After roughly a month he's back to taking the stairs two at a time, which sounds daft to write down but it's true. Proper pleased about it, didn't think a liquid supplement would be the thing that worked but here we are.

Finally something that actually gets eaten

Pros:
- Goes right into his breakfast, no pill wrestling
- Dropper makes it easy to measure exactly 2mL for his weight
- No strong smell that makes him back away from the bowl
Cons:
- Bottle doesn't last as long as I expected, maybe three weeks
- Took him two mornings to fully accept it in his food, first day he ate around it a little

We went through three different joint chews before this, our lab mix Bruno just picks chews out like he's sorting mail and leaves them on the floor. With the drops there's nothing to pick out. Bruno's about 60lbs so we're doing 2mL stirred into his kibble with a splash of warm water most mornings. It's been about a month and he hasn't refused a single bowl since we switched.

back to setting the pace on hikes

Our 8 year old husky mix had gone a bit slower on hikes lately. Gave it about six weeks and he's back to setting the pace instead of lagging behind, which I honestly didn't expect this fast. Mixing it into his breakfast is easy enough. Should've started him on this sooner.

colour me surprised

vet said it was fine to try and figured worth a shot after nothing else worked, our lab's noticeably springier on our morning walks a month in.

so glad we tried this

honestly didn't think a liquid supplement would make much difference but here we are. our 8 year old lab is noticeably less stiff getting up in the mornings, started noticing around week 4. wish i could post the before video because the change is pretty obvious watching her go up the deck stairs now compared to spring. easy to mix into her favourite breakfast too, no complaints there.

my vet didn't push it but didn't stop me either

I'm the guy who reads every ingredient label and rolls his eyes at most pet supplement marketing, so I want to be upfront that I went into this expecting nothing. My 11 year old shepherd mix, Otis, has been slowing down for a couple years now, and at his last checkup I asked the vet flat out if any of these joint things actually do anything. She didn't oversell it, just said it was reasonable to try alongside his regular care and that some of her clients had noticed improvement in mobility.

We started the drops in his breakfast about two months ago, 3mL since he's a big guy around 80 pounds. It took closer to five weeks before I noticed anything, which almost made me give up on it. But he's been getting up the stairs without that hesitation at the bottom step, and he actually initiated play with our other dog last weekend for the first time in a long while. I'm not going to pretend it's some miracle fix, he's still an old dog, but it's the first thing that's made a visible difference and I plan to keep using it.

noticeable difference

We've got a husky, Koda, who blows his coat something fierce every spring and he was looking pretty ratty this year. Started him on the drops in his breakfast about six weeks ago, the full 2mL since he's around 50 lbs. His coat looks a lot healthier now, more shine to it, and when we're out and about people have actually commented on how good he looks. Still get tumbleweeds of fur rolling around the house because, well, husky, but there's noticeably less of it. Good value for what it is.

quick rundown for anyone deciding

My old cocker spaniel Duke, about 30 lbs, has been on this for two months now. Here's what I noticed:
- No more of that groan when he pushes himself upright
- More interested in his morning walk, actually pulls toward the door now
- The dropper measures out easy, we do 2mL with his breakfast
- Took about a month before it was obvious, not instant
- Not the cheapest thing we've bought for him but he's worth it
Happy with how he's doing, would order again.

wasn't expecting much tbh

so my vet mentioned this when i brought up my old golden struggling to haul herself upright after lying down, said lots of her clients liked it and it wouldnt interfere with anything else we were doing. i was pretty skeptical bc ive tried like 2 other things before that just did nothing except make her poop weird. this one you just squeeze into her breakfast, shes 58lbs so 2mL, and honestly within like 3-4 weeks that little groan when she stood up had basically stopped happening. still keeping an eye on it but so far its the first thing thats actually made a difference, she's keeping pace on our walks again instead of trailing behind.

Y
Yasmin M.
took a bit longer than I hoped but got there

Took longer than expected but got there. Our golden retriever Max is about 65lbs so he gets 2mL each morning mixed into his breakfast. Closer to two months before real change, but the colour of his coat has evened out and he's stopped chewing at his paws every evening. My partner was sceptical the whole time, even he's admitted the difference now. Would just manage expectations that it's not an instant fix.

J
Josephine C.
Our old girl finally gets her supplement

Our staffie Bess is 12 now and over the years we've tried more supplements than I can count, chews, tablets, even a powder that was meant to be tasteless and wasn't. She's always been the type to leave the whole bowl if something's not right about it, which made getting anything into her a proper chore some mornings. We also have a younger spaniel who'll eat absolutely anything so it was never him we worried about.

Since switching to the drops Bess has her breakfast with it stirred in and hasn't left a scrap behind. It's such a relief not dreading mealtime with her anymore. The dropper took a morning or two to get used to but once I had the routine down it's quick, maybe fifteen seconds tops. After everything else we tried and failed with, I'll admit I wasn't holding out much hope for this one either, so it's been a nice surprise.

our vet was impressed at check up

We started our 9 year old lab on this after noticing he'd become hesitant going up the stairs to bed. He's honestly been brilliant about taking it, no fuss mixed into his breakfast each morning. Been on it about two months now. When we took him in for his check up recently the vet commented he seemed to be moving well for his age, which was nice to hear. He's definitely more willing to join us on longer walks than he was before Christmas. Bottle lasts about a month for him so it's a fairly regular reorder, but worth it so far.

A
Alan B.
worth trying if shedding is bad

Our springer spaniel Bramble is nine now and her coat had gone properly dull over the last year or so. Lots of dry patches of fur left on the rugs, and the vet said it was nothing to worry about health-wise, just an older dog thing. We'd tried a couple of other things before with no luck.

Started her on Tailsome about two months back, one dropper mixed into her breakfast every morning. Took a good three or four weeks before I noticed anything, but her coat is definitely softer now when you run your hand along her back, and there's noticeably less fur collecting under the radiators. I wish I'd taken a before photo because the change crept up gradually and you only really notice it looking back.

Not a miracle fix and she still sheds, dogs shed, but there's a lot less of it about the house and she looks better for it. Would give it a proper couple of months before deciding either way.

my cat will not leave this alone

Not the product's fault but my cat has decided the bottle is a toy and knocks it off the counter every morning without fail. I've had enough. One star out of pure spite.

Back to sniffing everything at the park

My lab Cooper just turned 12 and this spring he'd gotten pretty content to just lie around the yard instead of coming to the park with us. I started mixing it into his breakfast right around Memorial Day and now he's back to dragging me around sniffing every tree like he used to. It's a small bottle for the price honestly, but watching him perk back up again is worth it to me. He's twelve, he's not suddenly a puppy again, he still naps the afternoon away, but the mornings have got noticeably better.

R
Roger M.
quick tip, be patient with this one

Don't expect overnight results with this one:
- Took about 5 weeks before we noticed our lurcher scratching less
- Coat looks a lot glossier now, less dry and dull
- Easy enough to add to his morning meal, he doesn't mind the taste
- Wish the bottle lasted a bit longer at his size but otherwise sorted

coat's gone glossy

Our cockapoo Milo has always had a slightly dry, fluffy coat and honestly I didn't expect much from a bottle of drops.
Pros: coat's gone properly glossy since starting a dropper full in his breakfast about six weeks ago, and mum's black trousers aren't covered in fur every time she sits on the sofa anymore.
Cons: not cheap, and the dropper bottle is a bit fiddly to use with cold hands first thing in the morning.
Sorted itself out nicely though, chuffed with the difference.
